Cookies and Similar Technologies

PubShare may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, improve the service, and understand how the platform is used.

How Your Information Is Used

The information collected is used to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the service
  • Process royalty payments and generate financial reports
  • Communicate with you about your account and the service
  • Comply with legal obligations, including tax reporting requirements
  • Protect against fraudulent or unauthorized activity

Information Sharing

PubShare does not sell your personal information. Your information may be shared with third parties only in the following circumstances:

  • With your consent

  • With service providers who assist in operating the platform
  • With Paddle, the Merchant of Record for ebook purchases on the PubShare Store — see "Purchases Through the PubShare Store" below
  • To protect the rights, privacy, safety, or property of users, PubShare, or others

Purchases Through the PubShare Store

When you buy an ebook through the PubShare Store, the sale is processed by Paddle as the Merchant of Record. This means Paddle, not PubShare or the author, is the seller you are buying from. Paddle is responsible for taking payment, charging applicable sales taxes, issuing the receipt, and handling refunds and chargebacks.

Paddle's Role at Checkout

Paddle collects the contact, billing, and payment information needed to process the purchase. Paddle is the data controller (the party legally responsible) for the information you provide at checkout. For Paddle's full privacy practices, see Paddle's privacy notice at: https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy

What PubShare Receives From Paddle

After a purchase, Paddle shares the information PubShare needs to deliver the ebook, provide buyer support, calculate royalties, prevent fraud, and meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations. PubShare does not receive your full payment card number or bank account number.

PubShare relies on the legal basis of legitimate interests to use this information for the purposes above. PubShare does not use buyer information from store purchases for marketing or promotional emails.

Paddle Checkout Cookies

The Paddle checkout opens in a secure overlay or page hosted by Paddle. Paddle uses its own cookies and similar technologies for fraud prevention, analytics, and to remember checkout details. These cookies are set by Paddle, not by PubShare, and are governed by Paddle's privacy notice.

Data Retention

PubShare retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, comply with legal, tax, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Data Security

PubShare implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access and receive a copy of your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data

Some information may still be retained where PubShare is required to do so for legal, tax, security, fraud-prevention, or recordkeeping purposes.

Buying Ebooks on PubShare

If you buy an ebook on the PubShare Store, here is the short version of what happens with your information:

  • Paddle is the seller, not PubShare: When you buy an ebook, you are buying it from a company called Paddle, not from PubShare or the author. Paddle takes your payment, charges any sales tax, sends you the receipt, and handles refunds.
  • Paddle handles your payment details: Paddle collects the contact, billing, and payment information needed to process the purchase. PubShare does not receive your full card number or bank account number.
  • What PubShare uses your information for: Delivering your ebook, answering questions about your order, recording the royalty for the author, preventing fraud, and meeting legal and tax obligations. PubShare does not use this information to send you marketing emails.
  • Paddle's checkout has its own cookies: The cookies used inside the Paddle checkout are set by Paddle, not by PubShare, and are covered by Paddle's own privacy notice.
